1. What this site is

TheTuningChoice is a personal, non-commercial project: it sells nothing, charges visitors nothing and shows no advertising - the only money that can reach it is the store-paid affiliate referral fee disclosed in the Terms of Use and on the About page. Personal data is collected only to run the price-tracking features described here, and for nothing else. Any question, request or complaint: hello@thetuningchoice.in.

2. What is collected

• Browsing. Pages viewed and store links clicked are counted in aggregate. So that one visitor is not counted as several, the count carries a first-party cookie set by this Site and readable only by this Site - a random value that identifies a browser, never a person: no name, no email, no fingerprint, no cross-site tracking, and it is never shared with anyone. Where a browser blocks or discards that cookie, a shortened, non-reversible value derived from the connection stands in for it so the count still works; the full internet address is never stored either way. Blocking cookies is allowed - the Site works normally.
• Email address. Only if a visitor chooses to receive price-drop, restock or saved-search alerts, or the weekly digest. The target price or filter chosen is kept alongside it. Nothing else - no name, no phone number, no address.
• Account (optional). An account holds an email address, an optional display name, and a sign-in credential kept in a form that cannot be read back. Signing in with Google shares the email address and the Google account identifier. The wishlist, price alerts, restock waitlists, saved searches, ratings and any suggestion, review or bug report sent attach to the account. Account holders may also receive the site's occasional update emails, described in section 3. Without an account the wishlist stays in the browser, and alerting, rating and suggesting are simply not available.

No payment details ever reach this Site - nothing is sold here. There are no advertising and no third-party cookies, and no third-party analytics service: the only cookies set are first-party and functional - the anonymous browsing count above, and a sign-in session. Clearing or blocking them is always allowed.

Catalog data is not personal data. The prices, stock states and store ratings shown on the Site are the public information the stores themselves publish to any visitor. No store customer data is involved at any point, and a store that asks to be removed is removed promptly.

3. What it is used for

Only what it was given for: sending the alerts or the digest that were asked for, and counting views and clicks in aggregate to keep the catalog healthy. For account holders only: the Site may also send the occasional email about the Site itself - significant new features, meaningful changes, service notices. Creating the account is the agreement to receive these; they carry nothing commercial, and every one states who sent it and carries an unsubscribe link that stops these mails in one click (alerts and the digest are untouched by it). Every notification and digest email states who sent it and why, and carries an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing stops all non-essential email immediately. There is no profiling, no automated decision-making and no advertising of any kind, and personal data is never sold, rented or traded - to anyone, ever.

4. Who else sees it

The Site runs on a small number of service providers, each receiving only what it needs: the hosting provider, the storage provider, and - for subscribers only - the email delivery provider. None is authorised to use the data for anything else.

5. How long it is kept

View and click records carry no direct identifier and are kept as aggregate statistics. A subscriber's email address is kept while the subscription is active, and deleted within 30 days of unsubscribing. Account data is kept while the account exists.

6. Choices and rights

An account holder can ask to see, correct or delete everything held about them - the wishlist, alerts, ratings and the account itself. One email from the account's own address is enough, and the request is honoured within 30 days. Cookies can be blocked or cleared in the browser at any time, and every email can be unsubscribed from.

7. Children

The Site is not intended for children. An account or an email subscription is not offered to anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the version published here is the one that applies.

9. Contact and complaints

For any question, request or complaint about personal data - or to exercise any right above - write to hello@thetuningchoice.in. A reply can be expected within one week. A visitor who is not satisfied with the response may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
